Product Overview

From the 1995 anime film Ghost in the Shell, Major Motoko Kusanagi returns in a 1/4-scale polystone figure from With Fans!, the joint label by Bandai Namco Filmworks and Good Smile Company. This Original Color Edition takes its visual palette from the cover of the first manga volume while retaining the composition of Motokos key visual from the film.

The figure depicts Motoko seated on a broad mechanical platform, with a firearm in hand and her head tilted upward. Her deep blue-purple hair flows behind her, while exposed mechanical structures and connecting cables contrast with the smooth sculpted surfaces of her prosthetic body. The pose and layered construction bring the series themes of cybernetic bodies and human identity into the display.

Design Concept: The Cyborg Body and Its Inner Structure

The figures central design idea is the contrast between Motokos sculpted prosthetic body and the mechanical systems visible around and beneath its surface. Smooth forms meet hard structural details, wiring, and equipment, making the characters cybernetic construction part of the visual focus.

This material and surface contrast reflects a key idea in Ghost in the Shell: the relationship between the human self and the artificial body. Rather than presenting Motoko as a conventional action figure, the composition gives collectors a close view of her bodys mechanical complexity and the tension between its organic and constructed elements.

Film Composition, Recolored

The pose follows Motokos key visual from the 1995 film. She is seated low on the display platform, holding a firearm while looking upward. Her posture creates a strong diagonal through the composition, from the weapon and bent legs to her raised face and flowing hair.

The Original Color Edition applies colors inspired by the first manga volumes cover. The blue-purple hair and deep blue platform anchor the palette, while red, yellow, and metallic cable details add smaller accents. The recoloring gives the familiar film composition a distinct appearance tied to the mangas original color treatment.

Hair, Equipment, and Mechanical Details

Motokos long hair is arranged in sweeping sections that extend behind her and across the base. It adds movement to the seated pose and frames the upper portion of the figure.

Mechanical details and cables run across the composition, connecting parts of the figure to the platform and equipment. The firearm provides a clear reference to Motokos role as a combat specialist, while the exposed structural elements reinforce the figures cybernetic subject matter.

Multi-Material Construction

The figure uses painted polystone, polyurethane, and plastic, with different materials selected for different parts of the sculpt. This construction supports the visual distinction between the smooth surfaces of Motokos prosthetic body and the more rigid appearance of its mechanical components.

At approximately 27.5 cm tall including the stand, the 1/4-scale figure has a wide, low composition. The substantial circular platform forms an integral part of the scene, so collectors should allow space for its full footprint as well as the figures extended hair and equipment.

For Ghost in the Shell Collectors

This With Fans! release combines a film-based composition with a manga-inspired color scheme and a detailed portrayal of Motokos cybernetic body. Its seated pose, firearm, flowing hair, mechanical platform, and exposed structural details make it a scene-focused collectible for fans of the 1995 film and the broader Ghost in the Shell series.
